Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic intervention style which helps empower individuals to live a rich and meaningful life. This type of treatment approach encourages individuals to accept what is out of our control and commit to action which aims to improve the quality of our life. This technique encourages clients to dispose of short-term coping strategies such as avoidance and rather supports clients to become focused on the present through the use of techniques such as mindfulness.
